We're having a party!
Zanskar is the highest inhabited region on earth. High in the mountains in the northwest corner of India, Zanskar is a small island of Tibetan Buddhism (population less than 14,000) surrounded by a sea of Hinduism and Islam. 50 percent of the children die before reaching age five, and most of the residents are illiterate.
Valerie Hellerman of the Tibetan Children’s Education Foundation is leading a team to Zanskar to teach basic public health, first aid, and do health care assessments. We are hosting an Indo-Tibetan dinner presentation to benefit this volunteer project at China Woods on May 18 at 6 pm. Proceeds wil purchase medical and education supplies.
A $25 donation is suggested. Please call 439-3580 for reservations.
