old and rare Iban tribal wedding basket from Borneo; the basket is hand plaited by the Iban woman elders; plaited red and black rattan with a wooden border. the fibers are the natural colors of the rattan. The inner black fiber of the Dicaranopteris fern is common in rim stitching.
